Dubrovnik is a Croatian city located in the southern part of Dalmatia. The center of Dubrovnik, called the Pearl of the Adriatic, is dominated by medieval buildings that are surrounded by the ancient city walls. The monumental Rector's Palace is one of the tourist attractions of the old town, used to serve as the seat of the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa, today there is a museum. Near the Gothic-Renaissance Rector’s Palace there is the Baroque cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, i.e. Velika Gospa, as well as the Church of St. Blaise and the sixteenth-century Sponza Palace, the most precious monument located on the elegant Luža Square.
